Kristin Mihelic brings a wealth of corporate restructuring and bankruptcy
litigation expertise to the firm on behalf of creditors and debtors. Having
litigated in some of the largest chapter 11 bankruptcies in the country
for over ten years, Ms. Mihelic has unique insight into complex core
restructuring issues. Ms. Mihelic’s experience extends across a broad
spectrum of out-of-court insolvency matters, including work-outs and
restructurings for financially distressed companies and assignments
for the benefit of creditors.
In addition, Ms. Mihelic’s practice emphasizes insolvency-related
litigation, including lender and successor liability litigation, as well
as a variety of avoidance litigation. She has a particular interest and
experience in preference defense litigation. She has represented
numerous lenders, Fortune 500 companies, finance companies, equity
groups, vendors, trade creditors, and other creditors in bankruptcy
and federal district court litigation.
Ms. Mihelic previously practiced with the bankruptcy departments of
mid-sized firms, representing an array of creditors and debtors on
a national basis. She gained experience in commercial litigation matters
in one of Philadelphia’s premier litigation law firms handling complex
and high-profile litigation. She has also served as a law clerk to the
Honorable Fred A. Geiger (Ret.) of the Illinois Appellate Court.
Ms. Mihelic has published and spoken extensively on bankruptcy and
creditors’ rights matters. She also served as an adjunct professor of law
for appellate advocacy and legal writing. She enjoys participating in
various associations of insolvency professionals, including the American
Bankruptcy Institute, Turnaround Management Association, and the
National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges.
